Paul McDevitt

Overview

Born in 1972 in Troon, Scotland.
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Paul McDevitt initially studied Visual Art and English Literature at Lancaster University from 1992 to 1995. From 1999 to 2000, he pursued further studies in painting at Chelsea College of Art, London. In 2001, he was awarded the Saatchi Fellowship and has also received various travel and work grants.

McDevitt works with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and performance. He has exhibited his work in group and solo exhibitions both in Germany and abroad, including at the Henry Moore Foundation, Le Bel Ordinaire, Pau, France; Stephen Friedman Gallery, London; Kunsthaus Nürnberg; Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Kunstbibliothek Berlin.

Works by McDevitt are represented in renowned collections worldwide, including the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; the collection of Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis, Regensburg; and the Arts Council, London.

Since 2015, McDevitt has also run the project space Farbvision there. He is also a co-founder of Infinite Greyscale, a publisher of artists’ books and records.
