Lisa Strömbeck

Overview

Born 1966 in Andrarum, Sweden.

Lisa Strömbeck graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1999, and currently lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark and in Borrby, Sweden.

Strömbeck works with video, photography and collage. A particularly recognizable and recurring motif in Lisa Strömbeck’s art is animals – or more specifically; the relationship and hierarchy between humans and animals. Even if there are no humans in the picture, the scene is carefully constructed by the human (the artist), to reveal a certain interaction with the animals in focus.

In addition, Strömbeck has done numerous interventions in public space together with artist collective Women down the Pub, which she’s a founding member of.

Strömbeck is represented in major public and private collections including Moderna Museet and Uppsala Konstmuseum in Sweden, the Swanljung collection in Finland, The Danish Arts Foundation and The Danish Filminstitute in Denmark.
